Introduction to sporting career

The sporting career as a show jumper started early for Thomas Weinberg. At the age of 6 years (1993) he started participating at his first shows. In the following years he gathered a number of placings and victories up to 1,35m.

Thomas had his sporting breakthrough at the age of 14 (2001), by competing in his first 1,40m classes. In that year he managed to win his first 1,40m class. He participated in the regional junior championships (Rheinland Championship) for the first time, and won it. This victory enabled Thomas to compete at the German junior championships in Elmlohe, where he won the silver medal. After this success Thomas was elected for the german team. The first nationscup of his career was to also come in 2001 in Lummen (BEL). It was to be a great success for the German team, finishing in first place. At the end of 2001 Thomas achieved his first international senior results at the Baltic Horse Show in Kiel.

At the age of 15 (2002) Thomas managed to win various classes up to 1, 50m. He also successfully defended his title at the regional championship (Rheinland Championship). One of the major highlights of 2002 was achieving a double clear in Reims (FRA), which enabled the German team to win the nations cup. He was the youngest competitor this year at the Düsseldorf Masters where he gained placings in the senior international classes.

  • 2003: Thomas won at the age of 16 his first GP: Fontainebleau (FRA).
  • 2003: he won his third Nations Cup together with the German team for Junior riders in Hagen (GER).
  • 2004: He competed in the European Championship in Vilamoura (POR) for Junior riders and won the individual Silver medal.
  • 2006: Thomas and the German Team for Young riders won the Bronze medal at the European Championship in Athens (GRE).
  • 2006: Competed at the CSIO 4* Nations Cup as an adult in Podebrady (CZE).
  • 2008: Thomas won the individual Silver medal at the European Championship for Young rider in Prague (CZE).

 

Since then Thomas has been travelling the world successfully competing at shows. These are some facts and figueres:

 

  • He has won a total of 1.798 classes (until end of 2013).
  • He accumulated about 500.000 euros in prize money.
  • He had a total of 143 horses for his registered jumping shows successes.
  • He won 88 times 1, 40 m classes. (S*)
  • He won 11 times 1, 45 m classes. (S**)
  • He won 8 times 1, 50 m classes. (S***)
  • He has placings in 1, 55 m + 1, 60 m classes.
  • Thomas competed in 5 different countries for Nations Cups: Portugal, France, Brazil, Czech Republic and Germany.
  • He competed in over 15 countries around the world, like Russia, Poland, Austria, Italy etc.
  • He is been placed in more than 150 national and internationals Grans Prix’s.
